No Saturated or Trans PHAT!

Whoops! Did it again! Except this time we waiting 3 months to update our blog.

First of all, let me wish everyone Happy Holidays! I hope all of our fans are having a great and enjoyable holiday season.

Here is the latest on Burgal's Bounty:
1. We are going to MagFest!  Really soon!  If you are interested, you can try and still get tickets at www.magefest.org.

2. We launched the trailer, and finished another boss fight and have made some play mechanic improvements.  You can watch the trailer and footage from the new boss fight below.  Reddit told me that the boss fight is like "Showing off an open wound."  The internet is so friendly.

3. We want to launch the game this spring, but here are our plans for it:
- We are not going to launch without any chance of making some money off of it.  As a result we are looking for a publisher.  We first reached out to Noodle Cake earlier this year and they did not pick the game up...  as a result of that we ended up improving the game by adding panic mode and boss fights.  As such we are not going to firm up an exact release date until we better know how we will proceed.  I can promise this, if we are still unable to get a publisher, we will still launch it.  We will need to localize the game first though.

- We are considering making it a tablet only game on mobile.  We have not decided on this, but the small screens do make it difficult to play.

- We are still planning on an Mac and PC launch.  It will not be a direct port.  The control structure will be redone to make the game easier to play with a mouse or game pad.

Upcoming Events:
1. MagFest - January 5th to the 8th, National Harbor, MD - Tickets
2. PlayCrafting - January 26th, New York City, NY - Tickets

Until the next time!

I dropped my keys in the toilet!

Oh man! Boy, those were a pain to fish out :(

In all seriousness we have a couple announcements. First and foremost, we could like to invite all of our wonderful community of fans to attend FlameCon in New York on August 20th and 21st. Tickets (while available) can be purchased here.

Next up: Boss fights. We have been talking about them for awhile but they are finally here - at least the first one. It was certainly challenging to convert a puzzle game to an action game for a single level but the results are definitely worth it. Please check out the game play video below!

We hope to see you at Flame Con!

Until next time, join the heist and steal lots of money!

We suck!

Greetings blog readers...whomever you may be ;)

We suck. Not going to apologize, because I do that too often about never posting a blog update so I am going to stop. :) However, just because we have not been posting on blogs and social media the last little while does not mean we have not been making excellent progress on Burgal's Bounty! Over the last couple of months we were at Indie Cade East and at PlayCrafting's Spring expo! Both were great and tons of people played and enjoyed the game. As always we received valuable feedback and great comments about the game which we always love to hear!

So what's new?
We are getting the game ready to submit to publishers again later this summer (or early fall). The game is really starting to take shape. Story mode is playable and in a few weeks both Puzzle and Panic mode will be playable as stand alone game modes as well. Please note we have renamed Arcade mode "Panic" mode.

The boss fights are not in yet, but those will come later yet this summer. We have really beefed up the tutorial as based on the feedback from Indie Cade East and PlayCrafting it definitely needed some improvements. I am not going to make any promises, but I think we are getting close to announcing a release date for this great game!

When can you see us?
Awwww, how sweet! You actually still want to see us and hang out with us and play this awesome game! Well we are delighted to hear that. Here are our upcoming expos:

Arcade Mode and Bosses and IndieCade East and PlayCrafting! Oh my!

Hello everyone!

Here we are again with a long dry spell without an update, so here we are updating the blog again finally!

First of all, after much consideration, we decided to spice things up a bit with the game and let scope get blown up...a lot!

Arcade Mode is a new game play mode we have added to the game just in time for IndieCade East and the next PlayCrafting Expo here in NYC.

Here is some new game play video of Arcade Mode!

With arcade mode, we will also be adding in new boss fights! Stay tuned to see more on this, this summer!

Next up, if you would like to join us at IndieCade East, it is THIS WEEKEND! Tickets can be purchased here!
Phat Games will be showing Burgal's Bounty at the Show and Tell on Sunday, May 1st from 1:30 to 3:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Finally, we will be showing Burgal's Bounty at the next PlayCrafting Expo this Wednesday, May 4th! Tickets for this event can be purchased here!

Have a great weekend everyone, and I hope to see you at the upcoming events!

Sh*t just got real

Hello everyone!

I did it again. I waited over a month to write a blog post. I am really bad at this dev blog thing. Even though I wouldn't really call this a dev blog per say as much as a way for me to give random updates on random things mostly related to the game. :) Anyway, I have some announcements for this post in case anyone wants to read them!

1. IndieCade (again)
We are resubmitting the game to the IndieCade festival. Who knows? With all the intense changes that it has undergone in the last year, it is possible our chances are better! We will keep you up to date on this one!

2. Seeking a publisher
I doubt for anyone who may read this blog, that this one will come as a surprise, but we are actively starting to seek a publisher for Burgal's Bounty. The bottom line is that launching on mobile and making money on mobile is extremely difficult. If the game goes the F2P route again, we will need some way to get users onboard, and publishers can help with that. We are also going to seek advice on whether or not we are even going to go with a F2P model again, or if we are going to switch over to a premium model. As previously announced, we are still planning our PC and Mac launches as well, so we will keep all of these things in mind while we find a publisher that wants to work with us. If any publishers read this blog, feel free to reach out to us: hello[at]phat-games.com. We would love to hear from you.

Our next blog post will all be about music, so stay tuned for that one! Also check out our facebook and twitter regularly to see new screen shots from the game!

Until next time!

Another Month!

Hey everyone!

Apparently I suck at updating this on more than a monthly basis. They say development blogs should be updated every week, but do you know how much freaking effort that is? :P

I do have a significant number of updates though!

Burgal's Bounty Updates
First of all, the new level selection screen functionality has been completely built, and I will get some animated gifs of how that looks out shortly. I think it is pretty nifty with all of the new paper crumple transitions. The level select screen also has additional game play elements so Burgal can collect more coins outside of the levels. It adds additional puzzles and depth to the game! Overall everything with the game is coming along really well if a little bit on the slow side :(

The first of several in engine animated cutscenes is done! It has also been published to youtube! Watch it right here! This is Burgal's Origin Story. Why is he stealing all those precious precious money bags?

Last big game related news is that Phat Games is partnering with Alyssa Menes to do the teaser trailer music for Burgal's Bounty! I first met Alyssa through PlayCrafting NYC some months ago, and when I first met her I knew I wanted to work with her at some point! You can listed to Alyssa's portfolio here and follow her on twitter here! More news on this shortly!

PlayCrafting Expo!
That's right! Phat Games will finally be back at PlayCrafting NYC's quarterly expo. Thursday, January 28th, join us at Microsoft in Times Square and see all the new great stuff in the game! Tickets are available here.

That's all for now guys! Thanks for reading and I will try and post again sooner next time!
